About Harris Accountancy
Where it began.
The roots of my business trace back to the year 2004, when I began offering bookkeeping and payroll services from Stoke St Michael and Shepton Mallet after my first employer emigrated to Australia.
After joining a small accountancy practice in 2007, I acquired a 25% stake in the business. In 2015, with my business partner retiring, I seized the chance to expand my role by purchasing additional shares, partnering with another accounting expert.
Within five years, the firm grew to include two offices and a dedicated team of seven. However, as my responsibilities shifted, I found myself missing the direct client work and hands-on accountancy that first sparked my passion.
In 2020, armed with extensive experience and a renewed sense of purpose, I took the leap to establish my own firm—Harris Accountancy. This move allowed me to shape my own business and build a firm grounded in client relationships, strategic insight, and a balanced approach to work and family. Today, as a mother of two young children, work-life balance remains a core value in my business.
Offering more.
As a fully qualified accountant, I’m able to offer my clients a higher level of expertise, insight, and reassurance. This advanced knowledge, combined with my annual CPD, enables me to deliver comprehensive, current support and advice tailored to my clients’ evolving needs.
I’m also committed to ongoing training with the accounting software I use—QuickBooks, Xero, and others—to ensure I can offer clients insightful, value-added guidance. This approach allows me to provide clients not only with accurate financial information but also with proactive, ongoing advice that supports their growth and helps them make well-informed decisions for their business.
With the rising cost of living and recent budget changes impacting small businesses, cashflow management has become a growing concern for many of my clients. To offer even more support, I’ve recently completed my ‘Float’ accreditation and am excited to start using this powerful cashflow forecasting software to help clients navigate financial challenges with confidence.

About Amy.
I grew up in Somerset, attending a local school, and now live near Bath with my two wonderful daughters. Family is at the heart of everything I do, and I’m also passionate about giving back to my community, supporting both clients and causes that matter to me.
As Treasurer of the local primary school PTA, I helped secure £134,000 in funding—an achievement I’m incredibly proud of. I also volunteer my time managing accounts for a community market garden charity dedicated to ending homelessness in the Mendips. This blend of professional expertise and community commitment is something I truly cherish.
When I’m not working, I love swimming, reading, doing crosswords, and walking my little dog, Louie—a rehomed Cavapoochon who has quickly become part of the family. I also enjoy trying out new recipes and spending time with friends, whether it’s a rare night out at a cozy pub or a relaxing evening in with my daughters, watching a good film.
My log cabin office is one of my favourite places to be, offering a quiet and inspiring space to help clients navigate their accounting needs. What I love most about my work is the variety—every client and business brings something new, and I thrive on finding solutions to support them.
